Gowan Loyal Orange Lodge No. 1 is a primary lodge within the jurisdiction of Carleton County within Ontario East. The Lodge was first established in 1830 in Brockville, Ontario.
The first Orangemen in Brockville met at the tavern of John Craft on what is now Victoria Road in the north of Brockville located west of Windsor Public School. Brockville was the first lodge to receive its warrant from the Grand Orange Lodge of British America with Robert Stewart as the first Worshipful Master. The lodge was named in honour of Ogle Robert Gowan, first Grand Master of the Grand Orange Lodge of British America. Gowan Loyal Orange Lodge No. 1 amalgamated with Rocksprings Loyal Orange Lodge No. 454 in Rocksprings, Ontario. In November 2022 Rideau St. Lawrence County merged with Carleton County. The Lodge now meets at the Orange Hall (a former Temperance Hall) located in Rocksprings, Ontario. Brethren meet the first Monday of each month at 8pm. |
